Francisco Fonseca drops a line
Portuguese Simmer Style rider Francisco Fonseca (P-72) drops a line upon his return from Cabo Verde:
"Well, I just got back from Cabo Verde, it was my first contest on Simmer sails and my Icon 5.6 worked super well in the incredibly light wind that we got at Ponta Preta and "Little Hookipa". The highlight of my Cabo Verde trip was surfing the Left with Kai Katchadourian (US-33) and Francisco Porcella (US-69). We had an epic session in about 6 foot +, and only us out catching mind blowing waves. I also had a lot of good times with my room mates Jonas Ceballos (E-40) and Dario O, and as long as you're surrounded by good friends it always feel like home and that was the case for me on this trip which was really great. The forecast for Guincho looks really good for the next week or so, so now it's hard training until the PWA event there in June!!!! With my new Simmer sails and hard training I'm looking to step it up a notch or two".
Also make sure to check out Francisco's profile on PWA's site.

Quotes from Cabo Verde on PWA’s website
Here's some recent quotes on the Cabo Verde event from pwaworldtour.com
"Single Elimination
Dany Bruch (F2 / Gaastra) and Francisco Porcella (Mistral / Simmer) stood out from the trialists on day 1 with superb wave-reading skill and expertise to knock out some top players from this 32-man limited entry event.
Double Elimination
As soon as the double elimination got started some big names spewed out by up-and-coming talent.
Levi Siver (Quatro / NeilPryde) was the first victim of an on-form Jonas Ceballos (Fanatic / Simmer), and Marcilio Browne (Mistral / Gaastra), who fully made-up for a stuttering start in the single elimination.
Trialist Kai Katchadourian (Quatro / Simmer), a regular Cabo Verde visitor, really got the chance to show-off his knowledge of the islands breaks.
The American survived a tough encounter against Scott McKercher (Starboard / Severne), John Skye (F2 / Naish) and Ross Williams (Tabou / Gaastra) before getting on a roll to reach the top 8."

If you ever heard someone say twin cam sails are slow, think again cuz on March 12th 2008 while waiting for his new race sails, Simmer Style's new team rider Ben Van Der Steen (H-57) dug deep in his garage and took his dad's Simmer Style 5.5 m2 XC2 for a spin and clocked a top speed of 77 km/h on his GPS in conditions that wasn't that good anyway according to Ben. So next time someone says twin cam sails are slow tell them this story.

Jonas Ceballos breaks fin but keeps his cool
With tricky conditions, light winds, a broken fin that cost him 15 min in Punta Preta's nasty shore break and the worlds top 32 wave sailors breathing down his neck, Jonas Ceballos (E-40) 13th place in the recent PWA wave event on Cabo Verde has to be considered a pretty damn good one. In a few weeks it's off to Maui for the Simmer Style and Fanatic photo shoots.
