Alberto Menegatti (ITA-456) just got back from the Italian Slalom Championship and out of the two races, he crossed the finishing line first, twice! Making him the 2009 ITALIAN SLALOM CHAMPION!
That´s right, this kid is fast! The fastest man in Italy -  Earlier this year Alberto also won the Swiss Championships in Almanarre using his Race 9.0 and 7.8.

Congratulations Alberto!

SOUTH AFRICA 3

After a long 8 hour drive, we all made it up to Ballito to our condo. We met up with Erica Hosseini, another friend we hadn't seen in ages, who has been suffering for a reoccurring knee injury and has made the trip all the way here just to maintain her ranking on the QS. Fun surf the morning of this photo, shot by Sacha Specker.

But as we had been told, the storm of the year was on its way. Somehow we only had a two day holding period for this comp, and we woke Saturday to the swell of the year, looked like huge hawaii on reef beachies that couldn't handle. No one was surfing anywhere! Sunday, they ran a few heats and called the contest off the heat after mine, which I lost by less than a point. I was pretty pissed considering the wind of the century had been blowing in our heat, yet they finished one more heat and called the event off. After all the drama and trying to figure out what they would do, as most of the girls were leaving the next day, they decided to split the points and money and carry on. What a lame contest! Soooooo stoked that I had made this a surf trip, not just for a contest! I wish I could stay longer and carry on up to Mozambique with the Hodge's but it is crazy expensive to chance flights, maybe next year! Aloha!

SOUTH AFRICA 2

I have been enjoying my time here tremendously. Great company, great food, epic surf, and good times. Rosy and Sacha took me to the 4x4 quad park today, where I got to meet a giraffe named Abbey who is 4 years old, still a young one. We got to ride quads around this park, checking out more giraffe's, zebra's, and buffalo. Such a fun time... Tomorrow we head up to Ballito for the comp, stay tuned... Ha

SOUTH AFRICA

So this was my second time down in SA. I had been here once last year with Sean, but this trip I went solo. What an adventure flying all the way here alone. I flew Maui, Salt Lake City, Georgia, Johannesburg, East London. Wow that took a long time! Almost two days of flying and I arrived in East London to my two good friends Rosy and Sacha. All bags and boards had arrived safely, somehow! I was exhausted to say the least, but so happy to be welcomed by friends I hadn't seen since last winter on Maui. We drove about 45 minutes to Rosy's parents place, where I got to meet her Mom, Wendy and Dad, Steven. I was so grateful to have a warm bed and a beautiful house to stay in! Thank you guys so much for having me. I woke up around noon, with the time difference 12 hours from Hawaii, I figured I'd be a bit out of it for a few days. Luckily I woke up to some yummy food and a surf mission. We scored fun little surf, took me a while to remember how to surf in a wet suit.. But I finally got it... We came back home, relaxed and looked outside to see that the wind had switched and the point break in front of the house was firing with no one out! I LOVE SOUTH AFRICA! Thank you Sacha for the pics! check his website... http://www.thespex.com/
