Dorian Van Rijsselberge wins gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games

Dorian Van Rijsselberge: he has taken gold and gone for a shave

Dorian Van Rijsselberge has won the gold medal at the Men's RS:X Olympic windsurfing event.

The flying Dutchman has secured the top place in the podium, three races before the end of the competition. Van Rijsselberge never placed outside the best three and pulled out of Race 10, after having already confirmed gold.

The race is on for silver. Nick Dempsey currently holds second place, ahead of Germany's Toni Wilhelm. Germany have the chance to win two medals. Something that they have never managed in windsurfing before.

Moana Delle is one point behind, in fourth, in the RS:X Women's event and has sailed consistently well over 10 races, just like Tuuli Petaja, from Finland. Even if only one of them make it in to the medals tomorrow, the form book will have been upset.
