A good Wipe Out!
Hot Sails Maui team rider Bruno Andre reports from France and what looks like an interesting wipe out!

They foiled !
Remember that few days ago were were at la Forêt d’Orient lake for a AFS-1 & Tactik Sailboard test-weekend.
We had a rainy gusty from 0 to 25 knots windy Saturday. But some discovered new sensations !
Sunday was really shiny but inconsistant wind. The foil sail surprised lots of Tactik riders: light in hands and efficient in the lightest breezes, they enjoyed cool glide on the Tactik Sailboard.

Souvenez-vous ! il y a quelques jours nous étions au lac de la Forêt d’Orient pour un weekend test AFS-1 et Tactik Sailboard.
Le samedi, la pluie et un vent irrégulier de 0 à 25 knts ont balayé le spot. Même si tous les nombreux inscrits au foil n’ont pu tous passer malheureusement, certains ont pu découvrir de nouvelles sensations en décollant pour leur toute première fois !
Le dimanche, le beau temps s’est installé sur le lac, mais sans vent. La voile de foil s’est montré tout aussi efficace sur la Tactik Sailboard, surprenant bien des riders de par son poids plume entre les mains et sa capacité à faire glisser le flotteur, performant dans la pétole.
Tous ont apprécié de bons moments de glisse sur la Tactik Sailboard.

AFS – 7.5: The foil sail AHDboards by Hot Sails Maui
Foil-Windsurfing is both sensational and unique!
To help you harness your AFS-1 quicker and more effectively, we have developed together with designer Tom Hammerton (Hot Sails Maui) a pure Foil-Windsurfing sail. The AFS-7.5.
A subtle mix between stability and balance, this sail shall grant you more support in the air.
The power in her will help you get on the flight earlier than ever; once flying you’ll be surprised at how stable your rig is. The AFS-7.5 will absorb each and every gust and significantly reduce any impact of them on the foil behavior!
Its deep-draft and semi-rigid profile (well set by 3 camber-inducers on a 490cm mast) shall provide the necessary performance to guarantee speed and unique sensations from 8 knots of wind. A good “pumping” technique will allow you to get your board on a plane from 6 knots of wind.
Its very clean and unfussy design makes it a very lightweight sail.
A very high sail (516cm) set on a short wishbone (175cm), its upper-leach is tightened, developing the immediate power requested at the take-off.
On the flight, the foil-windsurfing sail does not need to twist in the apparent wind!
Much to the contrary: any unsolicited movement of the leech would be transmitted into further drag and lack of stability of the foil.
The lower sail section shape is instrumental in allowing you to sail the AFS-1, standing straight and sheeted-in, with a truly vertical rig:

Big win for Hot Sails Maui here in France! I chose to ride the Sea Lion XL which I had not used before, and the longer length suited my riding style very well! (shown above thanks to Olivier Simon Photo®) Though I finished in 2nd place behind Hot Sail's rider Diony Guadagnino in the waves, I nailed the overall top result which included a 3rd place in the windsurf slalom race, and a 9th place
On Location – Jeff & Kyla in France for Sealion Festival
Jeff was recently invited to France to attend an AHD Sealion festival weekend by Hot Sails Maui team rider Bruno Andre. Diony is also attending the event as are many Hot Sails Maui enthusiasts from a number of countries, we look forward to seeing some pictures and hearing about all the action.
