We kicked off this week with a whole load of event reports. Firstly Club Vass told us all about their first slalom competition, then we heard all about the windy weekend in Aberdovey for the BSA Slalom and Boardwise Demo. Full results are here and  the full report from Ant Baker is here.

The SWA also reported from a fantastic weekend at Beach Break Live, whilst Quayside Windsurfers are looking forward to the first ‘Windsurf the Wash’.

On the PWA scene the Tenerife event has been confirmed, and Boards and Boardseeker have announced Mpora Live will be covering the Pozo event too. 

And finally we took a tour of Juice Boardsports with owner Gump, check out the full range of great gear on offer.

Aberdovey

Boardwise will run their demo alongside the slalom competition.

Biggest news this week is that the BSA Slalom and Boardwise demo at Aberdovey this weekend is going to go off! Conditions are looking incredible, find out all the information here. 

Lots has been happening at Club Vass with their first Diva week  proving very successful.

Employment opportunities came up at both West Wittering in the UK and Jeri, Brazil, so if you’re thinking about a windsurfing summer get involved!

Red Bull Storm Chase reminded you that’s is the last chance to sign up for the competition, pros and amateurs are welcome.

Goya and Quatro introduced their latest addition to their ranges, whilst Quatro rider Adam Lewis and Dany Bruch announced the first of their coaching clinics this summer in Tenerife. 

Finally, Boards would again like to acknowledge the massive contribution to windsurfing made by the co-inventor Jim Drake, who sadly passed away this week.

Tom Wells – New Kid on the Block

15 year old Tom Wells is a local kid down at Weymouth Harbour, who has really grasped a passion for the sport, check his diaries below, which reveal how easy it is to get involved in the different disciplines of our sport.

Sometimes you just read things that give you that buzz to get back out there on the water. Grab a drink, kick back and check out Tom’s diaries for an inspiring tale…

‘I have been windsurfing for about 3 years, and am eager to get into the windsurfing scene. I started dinghy sailing which I thoroughly enjoy with a friend 6 months before I started windsurfing. This gave me a huge advantage with the understanding of the theory behind windsurfing and some wind awareness. I first came across windsurfing because my dad and uncle windsurfed. It looked awesome to me! I was never into the average sports and hobbies like football that my friends at school where into. I have always loved the adrenaline and outdoor sports such as rock climbing and mountain biking. Windsurfing looked appealing to me with such a huge range of disciplines and paths to go down. It feels like there is no limit to what I can learn and what I can get out of the sport. From then on I was determined to achieve what my dad and uncle had done. But what really got me addicted to the sport was when I first got planing. Gliding over the water at what felt like 100 mph is still the best feeling in the world to me. At this point in time I am just stretching into the other disciplines and trying out whatever I can. My Dad has always been a wave sailor, and my uncle Steve is a speed sailor but at the moment I have an open mind for my future in windsurfing as all the disciplines seem appealing to me and I love all aspects of windsu….’ head over to redsurfbus.com for the full story.
