AWT Hatteras Wave Jam: Day 3
Conditions looked promising early at the Bath House site. The women hit the water first for a 13-minute heat with two waves counting. Fiona Wylde narrowly edged out Miho Tanaka, Ingrid Larouche and Sam Bittner catching some long rides. Unfortunately the weather quickly deteriorated with rain pelting the competition site for most of the day. [...]

SUP Sailing rules Day 2 at the AWT Hatteras Wave Jam
The contest was set up at the Bath House site, just south of the town of Frisco, for day two’s competition. Once again the wind was too light for any heats but that didn’t keep the American Windsurfing tour off the water. First up was a fun four-team relay where competitors had to swim, sail [...]

Hatteras Wave Jam Cancelled
We at the AWT are sorry to announce that this year’s Hatteras Wave Jam has been cancelled. With the massive amounts of damage sustained to the local area, we decided it would be best to call off the contest. Washed out roads and flood damage have made it next to impossible for us to run an event. We are extremely disappointed to announce this decision, but when considering the amount of damage, we feel it is the right thing to do.
The AWT wants to thank everyone for their support, and interest in this event. For all those that have registered and paid their entrance fee to compete, we will contact you about compensation.
Thanks and Aloha,
The AWT
AWT On Hold
We are still waiting for more information from Hatteras to decide whether we will be able to run the Wave Jam. Initial reports indicate significant damage to the highway, cutting off contact with the mainland. Contest director, Samantha Bittner, and local director, Bill Bell, plan on making a decision about competition by the end of this week. Our thoughts are with everyone on the East Coast, as they deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.
