Dieter van der Eyken dominates the 2013 Belgian Wave Windsurfing season

Dieter van der Eyken is one step closer of being crowned the 2013 Belgian Wave Windsurfing champion.
Bredene, in the Belgian province of West Flanders, held an intense weekend of wave windsurfing action.
On Friday, all sailors completed the single elimination of the competition, despite the medium size waves and light winds.

Delphine Cousin stands out in the 2013 French Windsurfing Championship

Delphine Cousin is shining a light in the 2013 French Windsurfing Championship, with a victory in the second stage, held in Brest.
Despite the difficult conditions - three days of disoriented and gusty winds - sailors were able to complete two races.
The organization worked hard to try to get more races, but even if the windsurfing fleet had spent many hours on the water every day, nothing could be done.

Taty Frans and Kiri Thode blast the Curacao Challenge 2013

Taty Frans and Kiri Thode have claimed the Slalom and Freestyle titles at the Curacao Challenge 2013, in the Netherlands Antilles.
A total of 85 windsurfers from some of the world's best sailing countries like Bonaire, Aruba and Curacao competed in front of hundreds of spectators.
The 5th edition of the Curacao Challenge showcased an high level of competition mixed with a great atmosphere. The event held a Tow-In Freestyle contest, Slalom races and a SUP battle.

The windsurfing book for young people

"Go Windsurfing!" is a windsurfing book for young people published by the Royal Yachting Association.
Written and illustrated by Claudia Myatt, "RYA Go Windsurfing!" offers easy reading style and engaging content to children aged between 7-12 years old.
The entertaining and clear format takes the reader from the beginnings through to starting to race and what they need to know to stay safe while out windsurfing. There is also an informative section at the back which explores Windsurfing amazing facts.

Gunnar Asmussen is the 2013 Funboard Slalom world champion

Gunnar Asmussen has been crowned the 2013 IFCA Slalom world champion, in Westerland, Sylt, Germany.
Up to 63 Funboard windsurfers from 14 countries have sailed their best, with Southwestern wind ranging between 12 and 25 knots, in the last day of races.
Four eliminations rounds decided the best sailors. The situation before the fourth and final elimination couldn't be more exciting. Four riders were in striking distance for the World Championship title: Gunnar Asmussen, Vincent Langer, Jordy Vonk and Maciek Rutkowski.

Patrice Belbeoch races to glory in the 2013 Défi Wind

Patrice Belbeoch has stormed the 13th edition of the Défi Wind, in Gruissan, France.
The famous Tramontane wind blessed 805 sailors in the world's largest windsurfing marathon. In the fifth and final race, Belbeoch sealed the deal and finished ahead of Andrea Cucchi and Sébastien Bonhomme Allaire.
The 2013 Défi Wind saw riders traveling from 31 countries, including Japan, Chile, South Africa and the USA. The event's DNA mixes pros and amateurs, without distinction.

Sailor dies training for the America’s Cup

Andrew Simpson, British sailor and member of the 72-foot Artemis Racing AC72 catamaran team, has passed away while training for the America's Cup, in the San Francisco Bay.
Simpson and his 10 team colleagues saw the competitive yacht Artemis capsizing, half a mile north of Treasure Island. The sailor got trapped underwater and could not be resuscitated by the rescuers.
The 36-year-old, who had collected a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and a silver medal at the 2012 London Games, was declared dead about 20 minutes later.

Alberto Menegatti secures maiden victory in South Korea

Alberto Menegatti has taken out the 2013 Ulsan PWA World Cup, in South Korea.
The Italian windsurfer has secured his maiden event victory on the PWA World Tour, although having been disqualified from heat eleven, after being a little too eager to make a good start.
The last day of Slalom affair saw hazy skies, cooler air temperatures and winds blowing anywhere between 3-23 knots.

Sebastian Kornum races to victory in Copenhagen

Sebastian Kornum has stormed the first event of the Danish National Windsurfing Series, held in Copenhagen.
The 20-year-old windsurfer won both disciplines, Slalom and Formula, in the inaugural stage of Denmark's national racing competition.
Kornum had been developing sails and boards, in Maui, for six months. Two days after arriving in Copenhagen, he stole the show. The windsurfer rode JP boards and NeilPryde sails.

James Court sweeps the Eastbourne Fun Slalom Racing Day

James Court has completely dominated the Eastbourne Fun Slalom Racing Day, in winds ranging from 28 to 38 knots.
The Wellington Windsurfing Association (WWA) staged its final summer event, in Eastbourne. The stronger conditions dictated a figure-of-eight course, which was easier to set and adjust as the wind changed.
Ten sailors competed in seven races, which tested their abilities to maintain control and stay on the water in the strong conditions, and go around the buoys without crashing.
