Severne at Oceansource.net

Severne at Oceansource

Severne at Oceansource

Oceansource is immensely proud to announce it is developing partnership with Severne to include a UK test centre. Based on the southern shores in the UK, Oceansource has grown out of a windsurfing centre in Egypt to a tour operator facilitating windsurfing holidays and experiences to some of the best locations on earth.

“Since we started stocking Severne sails at our centre two years ago, we noticed how popular they were with our customers”, says Ed Texier, managing director at Oceansource.net. “Not only do Severne products excel in terms of overall quality, but the degree of passion projected by Ben (Severne) is at a point where you could argue that we share an unhealthy appetite for windsurfing!”.

There is no doubt that Severne Sails has established itself as a leading brand with the likes of Bjorn Dunkerbeck now leading the way in the PWA slalom series. Bjorn’s championship winning experience coupled with Ben’s leadership qualities has taken Severne to the forefront of the world stage and the results speak for themselves.

Severne is also firmly established in other sectors including wave and freestyle. The S-1 is commonly regarding as one of the most lightweight and maneuverable sails, perfect for freestyle, whilst the robust BLADE has become a standard in quality and innovation within the wave discipline. The hugely popular GATOR continues to develop its reputation as one of the most versatile freeride sails on the market whilst the success of Severne’s race programme has spawned an array of innovative and robust freeride and freerace sails such as the CONVERT and TURBO.

“Ever since I started sailing Severne sails I’ve become more and more attached to them.” says Ed. “I met Ben when we won at the National Windsurfing Festival (NWF) UK three years ago and things developed from there. The fact that Boujmaa Guilloul accepted our invitation to the NWF last year speaks volumes for the people behind the Severne brand, and we’re extremely excited to be part of that.”

From September 2011, Oceansource will be stocking a small number of 2012 sails which are free to use on a trial basis. “With so many products on the market, I firmly believe that everyone should be entitled to try before you buy”, exclaims Ed. “There is only so much information in a magazine test that is relevant to your personal circumstances. Everyone is different in many ways so it’s important that you buy the product that feels right”.

Meanwhile, for those already converted to Severne, Oceansource are now taking orders for all 2012 models and accessories. Please contact ed@oceansource.net or call +44 (0)1243 374615 for all enquiries.

Vandal Comes to OTC UK

Vandal at OTC UK

Vandal at OTC UK

New kids on the block – Vandal Sails – have been making big waves on the continent, with the Riot wave sail being herald as the best four batten wave sail around in 2010. Now, it’s time for the UK market to have a taste of what the brand has to offer. With the pedigree of the Gaastra sail loft behind them, and a young youthful image, the sails certainly stand out on the water, turning heads and getting rave reviews to boot.

The Official Test Centre (OTC) in Weymouth has just taken stock of ten Vandal Sails from the 2011 range. From the sought after Riot in 4.8m, 5.2m and 5.6m, to the five battened wave sail the Enemy (4.7m to 5.7m), onto the impressive Addict in 6.5m and 7.5m and the super fast freerace no-cam Stitch in 7.0m. The sails are rigged and ready to go, so why not visit the OTC and have a blast in Portland Harbour, rubbing shoulders with the Olympic sailors as they prepare for the Games. Director of OTC UK, Tris Best, commented:

“The whole concept of The OTC is to provide the opportunity for the windsurfing public to make their own minds up about the equipment out there. It’s early days still for our UK centre, but we’re already getting some great feedback, confirming what we already realised at our first centre in Tenerife – that people love to test the kit for themselves. A number of clients have come and asked us about Vandal Sails, so their introduction to the centre is the natural step. The OTC gives the chance for a kit’s performance on the water to speak for itself.”

BSA Weymouth’s Juicy Jaffa Sponsorship

BSA Weymouth 2010

BSA Weymouth 2010

The Official Test Centre (OTC) is very pleased to announce that Jaffa Oranges are the headline sponsor of the BSA event in Weymouth on the weekend of May 21st. Hosted by Tushingham and The OTC, the Jaffa event aims to be a ‘mass participation’ spectacle with FREE taster sessions in windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and open-water swimming all taking place throughout the same weekend.

There will be a barbeque lit during the Saturday where those taking part can buy themselves lunch to replenish their energy levels before the afternoon’s activities. There will then be a party in the Academy’s Spinnakers Bar in the evening, with live music and a DJ. The facilities on site at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) are second to none, and make the perfect site for an event that is not to be missed. And what is more, entry to the BSA event is completely FREE for girls … so now there is really no excuse now for the fairer sex to come along and get involved!

To get to The OTC, head to Weymouth and once through the town, keep following signs for Portland. Go across the causeway to Portland, and at the first roundabout turn left into Osprey Quay. The WPNSA is the first building on the left, and there is plenty of car parking and camping available within the grounds of the Academy – check their website for details.

Any questions, get in touch with The OTC on 0121 288 9965 / 07817 717904 or email info@otc-windsurf.com
